Michigan Highway 54 is a north-south route cutting through the east side of Flint, and connecting to nearby locales to the north and south. Both ends of Michigan Highway 54 are interchanges at Interstate 75, which it parallels to the east. The southern end is just outside of Grand Blanc, which serves as a sort of southeastern suburb of Flint. From there, Michigan Highway 54 runs north through Flint to a junction just east of Birch Run. At that junction, Michigan Highway 83's approach from the north will join Michigan Highway 54 as both designations turn westerly. The two routes ride together into the sunset, which in this case just means toward the west, I guess; both routes end a couple miles to the west in Birch Run, at the same interchange with Interstate 75.
My photo for Michigan Highway 54 is a pair of trailblazers facing eastbound travelers at the northern end of Michigan Highway 54. As stated before, the northernmost segment of Michigan Highway 54 and the southernmost segment of Michigan Highway 83 share the same road, bound for an interchange with Interstate 75 in Birch Run that terminates both routes. The photo shown here was taken facing eastward, away from that interchange, and the reassurance markers depicted are the first ones travelers will see for either state route. The photo seen here was taken in March 2019 as I was driving around central and southern Michigan.
