Ohio State Route 420 is a very short north-south highway on the southeastern edge of the Toledo area. It's a southern continuation of Interstate 280 that, while a four-lane divided highway, does not meet Interstate standards. So Ohio Route 420 is the non-interstate designation that had to be invented for this roadway extension. The northern end is where Interstate 280 meets the Ohio Turnpike (Interstates 80 and 90). Ohio Route 420 extends south from there for not even two-and-a-half miles, ending at a trumpet interchange with US Route 20, near the very small town of Lemoyne. As a side note, US Route 23 is duplexed with US Route 20 at this southern terminus.
My photo of Ohio Route 420 comes from the route's only intermediary junction with a numbered highway, at Ohio Route 163. The photo looks west down Ohio Route 163, at a sign posted in advance of its junction with Ohio Route 420. The junction marker posted helps westbound travelers anticipate the 4-way intersection that's coming up ahead. This photo was taken in October 2016, during a weird way home from West Virginia that involved both Portsmouth and Toledo (I used a lot of US Route 23).
