Ohio State Route 558 is a sixteen-mile route in east-central Ohio, connecting East Palestine to Salem. Ohio Route 558 doesn't quite reach Salem at its western extent, but it begins just southeast of Salem at Ohio Route 45. From that western extent, Ohio Route 558 runs northeast to Franklin Square. After reaching Franklin Square, Ohio Route 558 runs easterly through the countryside to cross over Ohio Route 11 with no interchange. Ohio Route 558's eventual goal is to reach East Palestine, a town very close to the Pennsylvania border. Three miles before Ohio Route 558 ends in East Palestine, Ohio Route 46 comes from the northwest to join it into town. Both of these concurrent routes end at Ohio Route 170 in East Palestine.
My photo for Ohio Route 558 shows an eastbound trailblazer, serving travelers leaving the 4-way intersection with Ohio Route 164. In this vicinity, Ohio Route 164 runs north-south as an access road parallel to Ohio Route 11. Ohio Route 11 lies under an overpass that is marginally visible in the background of the photo. This photo was taken in October 2022, during the grand tour of northeastern Ohio.
