Michigan Highway 188 is a route poking southeasterly out of Eaton Rapids, commissioned for accessing the VFW National Home for Children. The northwestern end is at the concurrency of Michigan Highways 50 and 99 in Eaton Rapids. The southeastern end is at a point along Waverly Road in front of the VFW National Home; note that Waverly Road runs along the county line between Eaton and Ingham Counties. Michigan Highway 188 is only about four miles long, and completely in Eaton County, save for the northbound lanes hanging over the Ingham County line at the southeastern extent of the route.
My photo of signage for Michigan Highway 188 comes from the northwestern end in Eaton Rapids. The guide assembly shown faces south for northbound travelers on a street, which carries designations for both Michigan Highway 50 and Michigan Highway 99. The sign shows these travelers that Michigan Highway 188 begins with a turn to the right, just ahead. This photo was taken in April 2021, setting out for Metro Detroit and the Michigan Thumb.
